Behind The Buds has returned! This month we’d like to give the spotlight to our dear friend Hannah.
Hannah is one of our first ever employees at OGEN, she has truly seen it all! Hannah has made a special impact on our company and for many of us she was one of our first encounters in the facility. She can normally be found in processing – but will make herself available whenever she can! We are so grateful to her assistance in Quality Assurance this summer, and for her continued hard efforts to make our staff feeling at home.
We took some time to ask Hannah about her time with OGEN, and her experience in the legal cannabis world!
How many years have you been with OGEN and what were your first few days working in legal cannabis like?
I've been at OGEN for four years now, so needless to say I've seen this company grow from a wee little seed to a full "flower", so to speak. The day I started was full of firsts, not just for me but for the industry itself! I had never seen so much cannabis in my entire life, I thought I was in a dream. We had a small team back then, which meant we did everything together. From trimming and harvesting, to cleaning and singing our favourite songs just because. I feel extremely blessed to have been able to watch this company and industry grow into what it is today.
What does a typical day at OGEN look like for you?
A typical day at OGEN... I don't really think I have a typical day at OGEN. Every day could be completely different. Typically, you will find me in the processing department either labeling bottles, filling out paperwork or running to QA to get our next lot. Everything moves pretty fast in our department, so there's always something different to do here! Everyone knows I'm a chatty Kathy, so whenever I'm in the halls I have to stop and talk to someone and joke about our day.
What is your favorite strain of ours and what does it smell like or remind you of?
I'd have to say Freshly Baked #76 is probably one of my favourite strains that we have produced here at OGEN. For me, it had the most appealing bud structure, and it reminded me of gingerbread cookies that just came out of the oven. It's a little sweet, but also has a hint of spice to it.
How do you like to spend your days off?
My days off are extremely important to me! I work two jobs, so when I have the time to sit back and relax, that’s exactly what I do. There's nowhere I'd rather be than with my friends and family playing cards and laughing the night away or enjoying some good wine and pasta... because who doesn't love wine and pasta?
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
If I had to choose one superpower, it would have to be teleportation. I'd have the ability to travel the world without ever having to wait in line, or step foot on a plane, train or in a car. Tell me you would rather hike up a mountain for hours just to watch the sunrise, instead of being able to teleport to the top? Cause It ain’t me, babe. It ain’t me.
